Artistically Expressing Your Identity

Advanced Art has had a fast pace semester, having extremely detailed and well done pieces. Students in this class have had to move at a fairly faster pace than the normal artist would in other art classes offered here at the middle school. In the beginning of Term 5, they were assigned to somehow create a piece showing who they were. Paige and Morgan have done outstanding pieces that feature their personalities.

Paige has done a piece that shows her artistic ability, featuring her hands. She has used warm colors and the technique of positive and negative space to create the hands standing out. On the posed, white hands there are different drawings that identify who she is and how she brings art to her own life.

Morgan has done an art piece that is very provoking. In one of her favorite songs, "Kitchen Sink" by 21 Pilots, she has taken the lyrics to heart. Her piece that shows what she thinks the lyrics are trying to tell her. Using Sharpies and colored pencils, she’s created a scene of herself looking into a bathroom mirror, pointing out what she believes are her flaws. It also features the quote, “Are you searching for a purpose?”

Both of these pieces are extremely strong but they aren’t the only pieces to view. Check out some of the other identity pieces in the art hallway! Good job to Paige, Morgan, Advanced Art students, and Mrs. Senner for creating amazing artwork this semester. (posted by Tea G.)

Grateful

Definition of Grateful - (adjective) feeling or showing an appreciation of kindness; thankful.

Over the last few weeks, the ACMS Student Council has been spending time thinking about how they can show how grateful they are for all of the work that gets put into having our school run. They decided that they wanted to show their appreciation for the administrators, administrative assistants, the kitchen staff, and the custodial staff. The Student Council broke into groups and came up with a ways to show their appreciation.

Prize-winning Poet

Congratulations to Sara K. for winning
FIRST PLACE in the poetry category
of the Pewaukee Women's Club Student Writing Contest!

The poem she composed reflects her interpretation
of the Edgar Allen Poe short story, The Masque of the Red Death.

I Had to Go Back

The clock in the corner
the walls painted black.
The moments I’d had there;
I had to go back.

Red panes of the windows,
not even a crack.
The things that I’d seen there;
I had to go back.

The undisturbed flooring,
no signs of attack.
The things that I’d touched there;
I had to go back.

That happy room feeling,
of that it did lack.
The things that I'd felt there,
I had to go back.

The wraiths in the corners,
all blacker than black.
The things that I’d feared there;
I had to go back.

The screams that I’d heard there,
a painful soundtrack.
The things that I’d heard there
I had to go back.
